1965 Monza Crown Conversion
Bill's deep red Monza with black Z28 style stripes
is a nicely done Crown setup, but instead of the usual Chevy V8, we have
a V6. He calls it "Still A 6".
The engine
is tweaked with Busch Grand National parts for the 4.3 liter V6 with an
Edelbrock aluminum intake and a 390 CFM Holley four barrel carburetor ,
18 degree aluminum heads with roller rockers, a custom oil system and a
set of custom headers
.
It generates 350 HP and 340 foot pounds of torque. All of this is hidden
under a hand formed aluminum engine cover.
The cooling system
has the aluminum cross flow radiator uniquely mounted vertically in the
rear at the forward location. Cooling air from under the car helped
along with twin shrouded electric fans in the puller configuration. This
leaves the trunk area fully usable.
Bill has wisely mounted his fuse panel there when he rewired the car.
Suspension consists of disc brakes at all four
corners.
The Corvair transaxle has a four speed transmission and the differential
has a set of 3:27 gears with positraction and the four spider gears
modification.
Wheels are the usual Camaro Rally rims with a set of
low profile BFG tires.
